Policy Platform Front-end Developer - EUR Policy

The policy platform team is seeking a front-end developer to join our team as a volunteer. We are in the process of building a new Xwiki-based policy platform that will streamline the creation, sharing, and collaboration of policies within our organisation and with external stakeholders. As a frontend developer, you will play a crucial role in the design and development of the platform's user interface and user experience.

About the position

You will collaborate with the co-leads, UX designer, system engineer and other developers to design and implement the platform’s interface in order to provide a consistent and intuitive user experience across the platform.

The Policy Platform is an Xwiki based application designed to streamline the creation, sharing, and collaboration of policies within our organisation and with external stakeholders. Being an open source project, Xwiki has a lot of inbuilt features already which will need to be tuned in order to serve our specific Pan-European needs. More importantly, given that this tool will act as the main portal to our party’s thoughts, it is crucial to build a smooth and modern user experience. For an overview of what’s in store, feel free to check in with any of our co-leads (you can find their contacts below).

Technical experience is helpful - certain skills are also required - but we do not expect you to be an expert. If in doubt, apply!

You will

Collaborate with the co-lead and other developers to design and implement the platform's user interface

Develop and maintain user interface code using JavaScript and related libraries

Ensure a consistent and intuitive user experience across the platform

Put in some hands-on work when the need arises, or your expertise comes in handy

Join our team meetings and programming sessions

Spend about 5 hours a week working with us

You are

  • Familiar with frontend development and possible libraries
  • Familiar with templating languages (like Velocity or Jinja) and Git workflows are a plus
  • A dynamic learner, with an open mindset and willing to work within the ever-changing framework of a volunteer organisation
  • Flexible and open to new solutions that address the issues arising through the project in the most efficient way

We know those are highly sought after skills and quite hard to come by, so if in doubt, apply!

As a volunteer you will gain experience in frontend development while making a meaningful impact on the growth and success of Volt Europa. If you are a self-starter with a passion for technology and a desire to make a real impact, we would love to hear from you.

Apply today and join our team in building a game-changing platform for policy-making by sending your CV to mike.winkel@volteuropa.org
