Volunteering Internship Political Assistant Co-president of the Board of Volt Europa (female/male/diverse)

Practical information

  • Reporting to: Reinier van Lanschot, co-president
  • Program start date: February 1, 2023 - 1 August 2023 
  • Time: 4 to 5 days a week, for approximately 6 months 
  • Location: No particular location is required. You will mainly work on the location of your choice. Depending on where that is you will also be able to work in a Volt office from time to time.

Allowance: to our own regret, we currently cannot pay an allowance. Our aim is to change this as soon as our funds allow it. In case of worktrips, expenses will be reimbursed (such as visiting the European General Assembly).

This internship
You will be working as the political assistant for the European Board, for Reinier van Lanschot. You will work closely together with Reinier on a daily basis since you will be responsible for his social media. You will familiarise yourself with a wide range of political topics. You will support a variety of tasks from writing speeches, preparing interviews, and much more. You will be the secretary for various meetings that will give you insights in how a Pan-European political movement works. 

Last but not least, there is a lot of room to engage in other projects you are interested in. 


Need to have:

  • A passion for Volt’s vision, mission, and policies
  • Fluent in writing and speaking English
  • Passion for social media 
  • Knowledge of and interest in (European) politics
  • Communication skills: at Volt Europa you will deal with professionals and volunteers from all backgrounds and all corners of Europe. Good communications skills are therefore required as well as sensitivity towards other cultures, especially in internal and external communications.
  • Working independently, thus self-motivated: we provide a large amount of freedom. This means you are in charge of your own schedule and will have to plan accordingly.

Nice to have:

  • As you will have contact with Reinier van Lanschot on a daily basis, speaking Dutch is nice to have, but not necessary.
  • Ideally, you are nearing the end of your bachelor's degree or pursuing your master’s
  • Design and video editing skills 
  • Other language skills
