Support Bulgarians - ValuesOverPower

Bulgarians have been protesting since 9 July 2020 against a corrupt government - although the European People’s Party prefers to protect the current government and say nothing.

It is utterly unacceptable for the EU to stand there and watch.

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN BULGARIA?

On October 08, 2020 the European Parliament adopted a resolution that voiced strong support for the Bulgarian people.

The EPP ("European People’s Party") leadership told its MEPs to vote it down.

We are curious, and maybe you are too, why Manfred Weber, the European People's Party leader, why he is not standing up for Rule of Law! The EPP drags its heels when its member parties - such as the Bulgarian government party GERB - act in conflict with our most basic European values.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

If you want to support Volt Bulgaria, show your concern by asking Manfred Weber why the EPP is protecting abuses on the Rule of Law in Bulgaria.

We need to get answers, and we have more chances if enough of us are asking. Show your concern, demonstrate your engagement and take a stand to support the Rule of Law in Europe!

Support Polish Women

Polish people have been on strike and protesting the Polish government since October because of the near-total ban on abortions that the Polish government imposed on 23rd October.

The ban included cases where the fetus will die or have serious defects.

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN POLAND?

On 28th January, after almost 100 days, the restriction law was published, taking away Polish people's rights.

Why call it a near-total ban?

Since 1993, Poland has only permitted abortions in 3 cases:

1) When a pregnancy endangers a person's life,

2) If the pregnacy is the result of rape

3) If there are fetal abnormalities.

Just last year, 97% of abortions were due to fetal defects. That was 1074 of 1100 abortions performed in Polish hospitals This ban has made abortion in Poland impossible.

That’s why Strajk Kobiet (Polish Women on Strike) fight for FREE, SAFE and LEGAL abortion for polish women. Why is the Polish government passing such a conservative law against women? What influence does the Catholic church have on Polish politics?

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

You can sign Strajk Kobiet's petition and open letter to Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki asking to support uterus-bearing people in Poland. You can help the Federation for Women and Family Planning and donate through their channels everyone should have the right to access fundamental rights!
